I have been exhibiting since receiving a first class honours degree at Canterbury College of Art in 1981. I am now a member of the Welsh Group.

 

I came to Wales in 1983 to work at WNO making props, becoming an Art teacher in 1988. In 2005 I retired ‘early’ from secondary teaching to focus on developing my work, learning printmaking skills at Swansea Print Workshop. Whilst there I was fortunate to be involved in two exhibitions in Pakistan, travelling there with other members of the group.

 

Today I continue to teach Life Long Learning Art courses in the Brecon and Crickhowell area, these courses are for everyone who wishes to continue where they left off and are open to all from beginners to experienced practitioners. I believe that art is for all and contributes greatly to wellbeing.

 

My practice is twofold, I work directly from the motif, often ‘in situ’, and my allotment has become a regular theme. Also, studio based, working from sketchbooks, developing drawings, pastel and watercolour sketches into oil paintings. Oils are a favourite medium, due to their flexibility and I enjoy the diverse range of mark making that can be achieved.
